Defence Ministry ने Naval Base Karwar में Project Seabird Phase IIA के तहत नई residential accommodation, utilities और amenities के inauguration की जानकारी दी। Facilities में senior sailors के लिए 60 dwelling units, defence civilians के लिए 60 units, 156 DSC personnel के लिए accommodation और school शामिल हैं।
Phase IIA wider Karwar expansion का हिस्सा है, जिसमें dual-use naval air station, full naval dockyard और ships तथा aircraft के लिए logistics infrastructure शामिल है। Ministry ने कहा कि 90% से अधिक project materials और equipment domestically sourced हैं।
Large naval base strategic infrastructure के साथ regional development project भी होता है। इससे logistics, employment, urban demand और environmental pressures बदलते हैं।
UPSC के लिए Project Seabird maritime strategy, defence infrastructure और indigenisation को जोड़ता है। New housing wider expansion का enabling component है; इससे पूरा Phase IIA complete होना सिद्ध नहीं होता।
