US अब India के आधे से ज्यादा LPG imports का supplier है
छह महीने में US share 10% से कम से बढ़कर 50% से ऊपर पहुंचना दिखाता है कि Hormuz crisis India की energy-supply geography कितनी तेजी से बदल रहा है.
The Indian Express द्वारा analysed trade data के अनुसार पिछले छह महीनों में India के LPG imports में United States की share 50% से अधिक हो गई है, जबकि उससे पहले छह महीनों में यह 10% से कम थी. Strait of Hormuz के आसपास conflict ने traditional West Asian supply patterns को disrupt किया, जिससे यह shift तेज हुआ.
यह सिर्फ commercial preference नहीं, बल्कि pressure के तहत diversification है. India में LPG का social importance इसलिए बड़ा है क्योंकि household cooking programmes ने access को तेजी से expand किया है. Supply disruptions import bill, subsidies, household welfare और inflation को प्रभावित कर सकते हैं.
