Ministry of Earth Sciences ने Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar का fifth edition 12 से 19 September 2026 तक schedule किया है. Programme में 100 से ज्यादा locations पर बड़े beach-cleaning drives, citizen pledges, human chains, cycling events, marathons और दूसरी activities शामिल होंगी.
इस साल नया feature पहली national Ocean Olympiad है, जिसका goal students और youth को ocean literacy और conservation activities से जोड़ना है. Campaign को one-day cleanliness event की बजाय public-participation programme की तरह design किया गया है.
Environmental governance के लिए cleanup drives marine pollution का visible end address करते हैं. Long-term improvement municipal solid-waste systems, wastewater treatment, plastic regulation, fishing-gear management और rivers तथा drains से coast तक पहुंचने वाले waste को source पर रोकने पर depend करता है.
