DRI का pan-India gold-smuggling crackdown: करीब 41 kg foreign-origin gold जब्त, 24 गिरफ्तार
Finance Ministry के मुताबिक seized gold की अनुमानित कीमत करीब ₹62 करोड़ है। Arrested लोगों में तीन foreign nationals भी शामिल हैं।
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence ने हाल के six intelligence-led operations में करीब 41 kg foreign-origin gold जब्त करने की जानकारी दी है। Finance Ministry के मुताबिक seized gold की estimated value लगभग ₹62 crore है और 24 लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया, जिनमें तीन foreign nationals शामिल हैं।
DRI का कहना है कि operations ने organised smuggling networks के कई routes और concealment methods सामने लाए - airports, rail routes और Indo-Bangladesh border इनमें शामिल हैं।
Gold छिपाने के तरीके कितने sophisticated थे
Delhi में एक operation के दौरान DRI ने कथित तौर पर ऐसे premises पर search किया जहां foreign-origin gold को procure और process किया जा रहा था। अलग operations में train passenger से gold और Hong Kong से imported treadmill के motor में छिपा 24-carat gold bar भी मिला।
उत्तर प्रदेश में एक car के gearbox के नीचे बने concealed box से 22 foreign-origin gold bars बरामद किए जाने की जानकारी दी गई। DRI के मुताबिक occupants वैध possession के supporting documents नहीं दिखा सके।
Arrest का मतलब conviction नहीं
Agency की seizure और arrest enforcement action का हिस्सा है। इससे आरोपियों की criminal guilt स्वतः सिद्ध नहीं होती। आगे Customs law और अन्य applicable provisions के तहत investigation, adjudication और judicial process चलेगा।
Case इस बात को भी दिखाता है कि high gold prices और import-related price differences organised smuggling के लिए incentive बना सकते हैं। Enforcement agencies अब physical border routes के साथ machinery, vehicles और passenger networks जैसे concealment channels पर भी focus कर रही हैं।
